  • Order total = (item price + shipping) × quantity
  • Listing fees = listing fee per item × quantity
  • Transaction fee = 6.5% × order total
  • Payment processing = processing rate × order total + fixed fee
  • Offsite ads fee = 12% or 15% × order total (ad-attributed sales only)
  • Net profit = order total − all fees − product cost

Result Order total £68, fees £15.90 including £8.16 offsite ads, net profit £32.10, margin 47.2%.

FAQ

Does Etsy charge the 6.5% transaction fee on shipping?

Yes. Etsy applies the transaction fee to the full order total, including shipping and gift wrap. That is why “free shipping” still costs you a percentage.

What is the Etsy offsite ads fee?

When a buyer clicks an Etsy ad on another platform and buys from your shop, Etsy charges 12% of the order if you sold under US$10,000 in the past 365 days, or 15% above that. Sales not attributed to ads pay nothing.

Why is my payment processing fee different from the default?
