SidePulse is a hardware status-light system for coding agents. Instead of switching windows to check whether an agent is working, waiting for input, or finished, users can glance at a small light that reflects the agent’s current state. The product line includes SidePulse Pro and SidePulse Dot, priced from $29.
SidePulse Pro offers eight lights and fits the SD card slot of a 14-inch or 16-inch MacBook Pro. SidePulse Dot offers two lights and connects via USB-C to a Mac, Linux PC, Windows PC, or iPhone, with Android support in beta. On iPhone, the SidePulse app allows control through the CLI or Shortcuts.
On a Mac, users can install the open-source SidePulse software to follow coding agents automatically. For custom patterns, both devices accept a plain-text LEDS.LED file, and Dot can also be controlled this way on Linux and Windows. Both devices share the same animation language.
The product is aimed at developers who hand off tasks to coding agents and want to maintain focus while staying aware of when intervention is needed. It is useful for long-running agent sessions where constant window-checking is disruptive.
To get started, choose Pro for MacBook Pro SD slots or Dot for broader USB-C compatibility, then install the software or configure LED patterns as needed. SidePulse offers a simple way to keep agent status visible without adding another screen.
