Yale Environment 360

Yale Environment 360 is a publication of the Yale School of the Environment that focuses on environmental journalism and analysis. Rather than covering daily headlines, it publishes reported features, opinion pieces, interviews, and multimedia work that examine climate change, biodiversity, energy, and land use from a global perspective.

A distinguishing feature is its film contest, which showcases short documentaries by independent filmmakers. The featured piece, “Here There Was Cerrado,” follows environmental historian Natascha Otoya on a 200-mile bicycle journey through Brazil’s savanna, documenting how industrial agriculture is transforming the landscape and its water systems.

The site serves journalists, researchers, students, and policy professionals who need substantive context on environmental topics. Educators may find the articles and films useful as teaching materials, while general readers can use the magazine to go deeper than mainstream news coverage allows.

Because content is published in magazine-style features rather than a continuous news feed, visitors should browse by topic or search for specific subjects. The film contest archive is a good starting point for visual learners, while the reported articles suit those who prefer detailed written analysis. Overall, it is a reliable reference for environmental affairs rather than a fast-updating news portal.
