Weekend Builds

Weekend Builds is a home improvement publication aimed at homeowners who tackle renovation work themselves, especially in basements and lower levels. The site organizes content around a few clear pillars: basement finishing ideas, flooring and soundproofing, and structural questions about beams, joists, and framing. Rather than a general DIY catch-all, it concentrates on the decisions people face when converting or repairing below-grade spaces.

This makes the site most useful for DIY homeowners, first-time renovators, and anyone planning a basement conversion or structural repair who wants plain-language background before hiring a contractor or buying materials. The span and sizing articles in particular serve readers who need rough reference points rather than stamped engineering drawings.

A sensible way to use the site is to start with the idea posts for scope and layout, then move to the structural and material guides before demolition or purchase. Treat the numbers as planning aids and co
