Orimote is a desktop application for macOS, Windows and Linux that turns your computer into a full remote control for LG webOS televisions. Instead of hunting for the physical remote, you pair the TV once and then drive it from the machine already sitting on your lap or desk, with all traffic staying on the local home network.
The app reproduces the familiar remote layout: directional pad, OK, Back, Home, volume, mute, playback and channel buttons, plus a touchpad for the on-screen pointer. Beyond basic navigation it lists installed apps and HDMI inputs for one-click switching, supports text entry from your keyboard, and offers Wake-on-LAN so the TV can be brought out of standby.
A distinctive extra is the bundled MCP server, which exposes TV control to AI agents and assistants that speak the protocol. The developer notes the app was tested on an LG OLED C4 and that recent webOS models share the same protocol, so compatibility should extend across much of LG’s recent lineup.
It suits cord-cutters and home-theater users who watch from a connected laptop, as well as developers and tinkerers who want to script or automate their TV. Downloads are free for all three platforms; check the stated OS requirements (macOS 14+, Windows 10/11 64-bit, Ubuntu 22.04+/Debian 12+) before installing.
