Mother Jones is a nonprofit magazine and news site that has published investigative and political journalism for five decades. Its newsroom focuses on accountability reporting, and the homepage surfaces a mix of breaking political stories, long-form investigations, and commentary from staff writers.
The site organizes coverage into clear verticals: Politics, Environment, Criminal Justice, Guns, Race, Gender and Sexuality, and Food. Beyond text articles, it offers podcasts, video dispatches, newsletters, and a print magazine, giving readers several ways to follow the reporting.
It is aimed at readers who want investigative, advocacy-oriented journalism on US policy and social justice, rather than quick headline aggregation. The nonprofit model means readers are asked to donate or subscribe, and confidential tip channels are offered for sources.
Newcomers can start with the section that matches their interest, subscribe to a newsletter for regular digests, and use the video and podcast pages for audio-visual reporting. Expect a clearly progressive editorial voice throughout.
