Jacobin

Jacobin is an independent magazine of socialist thought and politics, publishing online articles and a print magazine. Its editorial focus is on interpreting current events, from elections to energy policy, through a left-wing lens, and it regularly features contributions from academics, journalists, and political writers.

The site combines a frequently updated blog with a magazine section, back issues, and a store. Articles range from short political commentary to longer analytical essays, and the publication also runs Catalyst, a separate journal for longer theoretical work. A subscription offer and donation options support the publication.

Readers who follow left politics, labor organizing, and international affairs will find the site most relevant. It is also useful for students and researchers looking for clearly argued socialist perspectives on contemporary issues, though readers seeking neutral reporting should look elsewhere.

Because much of the content is opinion and analysis, it is best used as a source of arguments and framings rather than as a primary news feed. Browsing by topic or contributor helps surface relevant essays, and the magazine archive is worth checking for background on recurring debates. Overall, Jacobin serves as a focused outlet for socialist commentary and long-form political writing.
