Its strongest asset is the combination of practical tooling and public accountability data: SecureDrop and Dangerzone serve newsrooms directly, while the U.S. Press Freedom Tracker documents incidents in a searchable form. Freedom of the Press Foundation is a nonprofit focused on protecting journalism and the rights of reporters and whistleblowers. Rather than acting as a general news outlet, it pairs advocacy with concrete resources: software, incident data, and training. Its work spans government secrecy and surveillance reporting alongside tools that newsrooms can actually deploy.

The U.S. Press Freedom Tracker records press freedom incidents in a searchable database, supported by data visualizations. A digital security education program offers guides, resources, and requestable trainings for journalists.
