Esther Weidauer

Esther Weidauer’s site is a personal writing space built around long-form articles. The tagline, ‘Everything, from the ecological to the psychological to the weird,’ signals the range: technology criticism sits alongside environmental and psychological themes. The site is not a publication with an editorial team but a single author’s archive, and the writing reflects that independence.

The centerpiece is ‘Why I Resist Generative AI,’ a collection of arguments the author previously scattered across social media. It opens with definitions of current AI systems, including large language models, agents, and other machine learning, then moves through common pro-AI claims and rebuttals. A harms section covers environmental, psychological, economic, epistemological, and political dimensions, with sources for further reading.

The structure is deliberately modular. Sections are mostly independent, and a table of contents lets readers skip to a specific argument. This makes the article useful as a reference for particular talking points rather than something that must be read start to finish.

Readers who will get the most from the site are those looking for a sustained critical position on generative AI, written by someone who has followed the debate for years. It is less suited to readers seeking a neutral survey or practical guidance on using AI tools. The site also includes a contact page and an articles index for browsing other writing.
