Catlike Coding

Catlike Coding is the personal publishing site of Jasper Flick, an independent developer who writes tutorials for Unity and, more recently, the Godot Engine. Rather than covering broad beginner material, the site concentrates on the technical foundations behind game systems, with an emphasis on rendering, mathematics, and procedural techniques. The tone is direct and instructional, reflecting a single author’s consistent approach across many years of writing.

The core of the site is its tutorial series, which walk through building features step by step with complete code and explanations of why each decision is made. Topics include shaders and rendering pipelines, mesh and fractal generation, and engine-specific workflows for both Unity and Godot. Alongside the tutorials, Jasper publishes his own tools, including the SDF Toolkit for Unity and AnyDice, an online dice probability calculator.

The material is aimed at developers who are comfortable with an engine’s basics and want to understand what happens underneath. Programmers working on graphics, procedural content, or custom rendering will find the most value, as will anyone preparing for technical interviews or studying engine architecture. Absolute beginners may find the pace demanding, since the tutorials assume familiarity with C# or GDScript and basic 3D concepts.

A practical approach is to pick a tutorial series that matches a current project rather than reading sequentially, since each series is largely self-conta
