Independent Vet

Independent Vet is a directory built around a single question: who actually owns your veterinary clinic? It maps practices across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and other regions, and labels each listing by ownership status so visitors can tell independent clinics apart from corporate chains.

The map is the core of the experience. You can search by location, filter by ownership status, and narrow results by services such as general practice, specialty and emergency care, or by academic and nonprofit status. A separate corporate vet lookup lets you check which clinics belong to larger groups, and a jobs section supports hiring within the independent sector.

Practice owners and managers can claim their listing for free. Claimed profiles can include a personalized message, job postings and profile edits, and claimants get early access to new features. The site is run as a companion to Private Equity Vet, which tracks corporate consolidation in the veterinary industry.

It suits pet parents who prefer locally owned clinics, plus independent vets who want visibility and a free recruiting channel. Because some listings are unverified, confirm ownership details with the clinic before relying on them. Overall, it is a focused transparency tool rather than a full booking platform.
