Entropic Thoughts is a personal blog by kqr that covers topics such as NixOS, system administration, and self-hosted software. The site collects essays and notes drawn from practical experience, aimed at readers who enjoy thoughtful technical writing rather than news or tutorials.
The core of this article is a short reflection on how running NixOS servers changed the author’s willingness to experiment. A FreshRSS installation serves as the example: something that would not have happened a year earlier, before NixOS was in the picture. The post connects a technical tool to a shift in mindset.
The piece is suitable for developers and system administrators who are curious about NixOS or who hesitate to try new self-hosted services. It will also resonate with readers interested in how tooling choices affect confidence and experimentation.
As a reading suggestion, treat this as a personal essay rather than a how-to guide; it offers motivation and context rather than step-by-step instructions. It is a short, accessible entry point to the blog’s broader themes of practical system administration.
