Whalesong is a small experimental project built around a single question: can AI help humans talk more, not less? Rather than automating replies or writing content for people, it looks for connections between existing public posts on Bluesky and presents them as potential conversations waiting to happen.
The core mechanic is a counterpart search. You enter a Bluesky handle, pick one of your posts, and the system looks for posts from other users that seem conversationally related. A separate examples section shows matches the agent has already paired, each chosen because the two authors might have something to say to each other.
Privacy is handled simply: nothing is sent to either author, so no one is notified or contacted by the tool. That makes it safe to explore matches without committing to an interaction, and it keeps the experiment focused on discovery rather than outreach.
It suits Bluesky users who want to find new people to talk to, as well as researchers and designers interested in how AI can encourage conversation instead of substituting for it. Use it as a starting point: browse the examples, run a search on one of your own posts, and decide for yourself whether the suggested counterpart is worth a reply.
