TrailNote is built around a simple premise: the map a team uses should be the project, not a loose collection of pins and screenshots. Each job gets its own project holding the map, dates, and status, so site work stays contained instead of leaking into chat threads or screenshot folders.
The workbench keeps markers, routes, zones, notes, and photos together in one place. Layers can be grouped into folders so a dense map stays readable, and groups can be hidden during review without deleting anything. GPX files can be imported and exported, making it easy to bring existing lines in or hand routes off to other tools.
Access is role-based, with Owner, Admin, Editor, and Viewer levels. Planners, editors, and reviewers open the same live map, each seeing what their role permits, which reduces the back-and-forth of exporting a map for every round of feedback.
It fits operations teams handling site, route, and field work who need organized, reviewable map markup but do not require a full GIS rollout. Teams with heavy spatial analysis needs should look elsewhere. For repeatable map projects with clear ownership, TrailNote is a focused option.
