SPELK PRESS

SPELK PRESS is an independent publishing house focused on non-fiction for curious minds. Rather than chasing broad trends, it assembles a small, deliberate list of books that explore unusual subjects with wit and care. The publisher’s identity is built around the idea that niche interests deserve handsome, well-made editions, and that constraint can be a source of delight rather than limitation.

The catalogue currently features titles such as 81 Jokes for the ZX81 by Rob Manuel, the creator of Fesshole and co-founder of B3ta.com, who wrote and illustrated 81 jokes using only the ZX81 character set. Another title, Brush Strokes by Chris Barker, sits alongside it. The site presents each book with straightforward pricing, pre-order options, and a clean storefront that includes a cart, account access, and dark mode.

This publisher appeals most to retro-computing fans, design-minded readers, and anyone who enjoys offbeat humour and micro-history. It also works well for gift shoppers seeking a distinctive present that is unlikely to be found on a mainstream bestseller list. Those looking for a large, general-interest catalogue may find the selection intentionally compact.

Visitors can browse all books from the main menu, read the About page for context on the publisher’s approach, and use the contact page for enquiries. International shipping is available to a long list of countries, and the site links to delivery and returns, terms, and privacy policies. Checking pre-order date
