Site introduction

buildnotes is positioned as a skill for coding agents rather than a standalone dashboard. It plugs into agents such as Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode, then works inside your repository to examine the issues, pull requests and review threads connected to a single feature.

The core idea is selection over summarization. Instead of restating every commit, it isolates the handful of decisions that determined how the feature turned out, then builds a narrative around them. Outputs include a written post with chapters and figures, a video version of the same story, and a slide deck, all invoked through a command like /buildnotes post, video or deck.

The video output is the most distinctive part. It renders 3D walkthroughs at 1920×1080 and 30fps, with a tinted room highlight, a plain line-drawing mini-map, and a moving camera dot and view wedge. Captions name each room and its size, making the result usable for product tours or architectural demos.

It suits engineering teams, developer advocates and technical founders who already write pull requests carefully and want that context reused for launch posts, demos or internal reviews. Installation is a single npx command, so trying it on one feature is low effort. Expect to review and edit the generated narrative before publishing, since the agent’s choice of pivotal decisions may not match your own emphasis.
