Descripción del sitio

Ubuntu is Canonical’s Linux distribution positioned as an enterprise-grade operating system for open-source innovation. It spans servers, desktops, cloud instances, and IoT devices, giving organizations a single platform family across diverse infrastructure. The site serves as both a download hub and an entry point to Canonical’s commercial support and management offerings.

The core appeal is the Long Term Support release model, with the latest LTS receiving up to 15 years of coverage. Users can download the current release for free, read feature deep dives, and explore options when older LTS support periods end. Canonical also provides security maintenance, compliance tooling, and enterprise management services around the base system.

It is aimed at developers who want a familiar Linux environment, IT administrators running fleets of servers, and businesses deploying cloud or edge workloads. Desktop users and hobbyists are welcome too, since the same images power personal machines and production infrastructure.

New users should start with the latest LTS release rather than interim versions for stability. Teams with compliance or long-lifecycle needs should review Canonical’s support tiers before standard support expires. Overall, Ubuntu is a dependable default for anyone standardizing on Linux.
