Airbnb is a global marketplace for short-term stays, connecting travelers with hosts offering vacation rentals, cabins, beach houses, and unique homes. This particular page is part of the Airbnb Help Centre and focuses on the platform’s community policy governing House Rules and requests.
The page explains the requirements hosts must follow when setting house rules and requests for a listing, including that they be disclosed in the designated section of the listing page at the time of booking. It also outlines expectations for guests, who must follow hosts’ house rules and are encouraged to comply with requests, and describes how the policy is enforced.
The content is aimed primarily at Airbnb hosts who need to write compliant listings, and at guests who want to understand what rules they may encounter and how to assess whether a property fits their needs before booking. Customer service teams and policy researchers may also find it useful as a reference.
Readers should note the stated effective date: the policy applies to all reservations booked on or after November 20, 2026. For practical guidance, hosts can follow the linked instructions on setting house rules, while guests should review the designated rules section of each listing before confirming a stay.
