UChicago Medicine

UChicago Medicine is the clinical enterprise of the University of Chicago, spanning hospitals, outpatient clinics, and physician practices in the Illinois region. The site acts as the public front door to that system, letting patients move from a symptom or condition to an appropriate doctor, location, or service line.

Core functions include doctor and location search, online appointment scheduling, and a 24/7 on-demand virtual urgent care option. MyChart gives patients a portal for messaging, records, and bill payment, while dedicated sections cover conditions and services, clinical trials, and Comer Children’s Hospital.

It is built for prospective and current patients, referring clinicians, and families comparing care options in the Chicago area. Researchers and job seekers also find relevant sections, though the primary audience is people seeking care.

New visitors should start with Find a Doctor or Find a Location, then confirm insurance and scheduling details by phone or through MyChart. Those unsure where to begin can use virtual urgent care for immediate concerns. Overall, it is a comprehensive but information-dense portal best approached with a specific care need in mind.
