SlideBySide is built around a simple idea: instead of sharing your screen, you share the slides themselves. You upload a PDF, PPT or PPTX file, send out a link, and everyone who opens it lands on the same deck in their own browser. There is nothing for the audience to install and no account required to join, which keeps the setup short for both the presenter and the people watching.
The core of the product is shared control. Anyone with permission can flip slides for the whole room, point with a named live cursor, or draw with a pen, highlighter or laser. Viewers can also step away to browse other slides on their own and jump back to the live position when they are ready. Permissions are configurable for the group or per person, covering who may change slides, draw, browse alone or download the file.
It fits situations where a deck is the center of the conversation: team reviews, client walkthroughs, classroom sessions and remote workshops. Because joining is just a link, it also works well for audiences outside your organization who would not install your meeting software or sign up for an account.
To get the most from it, upload the final deck before sharing the link and set permissions up front so viewers know whether they can draw or navigate independently. Presentation mode gives a full-screen view for the presenter. Overall, it is a focused way to make slide-based sessions feel shared rather than broadcast.
