Peel is an uninstaller and cleaner built for macOS Tahoe 26 or later, available for both Apple silicon and Intel Macs. It targets a common problem: dragging an app to the Trash leaves caches, preferences, containers, launch agents, and support files scattered across your Library, sometimes taking up gigabytes.
The core workflow is transparent. Peel locates what an app left behind, labels why each file is associated with that app, and indicates its confidence level. You choose what to remove, and selected items go to the Trash rather than being permanently deleted. A History view can restore removed items to their original locations, and the few exceptions are disclosed before you confirm.
It is distributed free of charge under GPL 3.0 or later, with no ads, no paid tier, and no account required. The app is signed and notarized by Apple, and it is available through Homebrew as well as a direct download. The interface is localized into 18 languages.
Beyond uninstalling, Peel also offers fine-tuning for your Mac and help setting up Terminal, making it useful for people who want a lightweight maintenance utility without subscriptions. If you value knowing exactly what is being removed and being able to undo it, Peel is a sensible choice.
