Evil Martians positions itself as a design and engineering consultancy focused on developer tools, AI, and cybersecurity startups. Rather than a self-serve product, the site presents a service business: companies hire the team to work alongside their own engineers on product development, from early prototypes to scaling challenges.
The core offering combines product design with deep technical engineering. Published case studies describe building plugin ecosystems, rebuilding core user flows into scalable design systems, optimizing background job infrastructure, and running an LLM benchmark project for the Rails Foundation. The team also maintains open-source work, a blog, a podcast, and events such as SF Ruby Conf 2026, which support its developer-tooling reputation.
This is aimed at startup founders and engineering leaders, particularly those building AI agents or AI-native products who need extra design and engineering capacity. Clients listed on the page range from Series A to Series E companies, suggesting the firm works with funded teams facing growth or infrastructure pressure.
Prospective clients can browse services, client stories, and open-source projects before reaching out through the hire page. Because engagements are custom, the site does not publish pricing or a free tier; evaluating fit means reviewing case studies and contacting the team directly. Overall, it is a credible reference point for startups seeking a hands-on product development partner.
